Magic of the North

For this it was a good deal of luck and a good dose of patience from emergencies. Such evening scenes are not matter of course, and waiting out with the preset camera angle and freezing temperatures are a nice pastime

.
You can see the glacial lake Jökulsárlón with a big glacier tongue of the biggest glacier in Iceland, Vatnajökull in the background. The constant murmur and gnashing of gigantic masses of ice in the background is clearly heard in absolute silence.
Larger and smaller fragments of the glacier are swimming through the lake and pass through an estuary into the open sea. The black lava beach is a wonderful contrast to this impressive spectacle.
