Early in the forenoon, after a rainy night Eldhraun appears much more lush & colorful. I carefully went on the moss and tried to find an interesting wide angle composition. Such lavafields are a common thing in iceland. As a lover of moss this really has fascinated me.
Eldhraun is one of the biggest lava fields in the world. It emerged from the Laki Eruption 1783/84. Today it is covered from very thick and soft moss.
In this eruption about 30% of Iceland's population died.
