Early in the morning I used a little longer exposure and the soft rocks to get a smoothly feeling in this photo. The soft purple-blue colors were helping me.
Fantastic scene Do you use any filters or are you just doing these capture early/late? I've been experiementing with a 3 stop softgrad + a 3 stop nd from Lee, but I haven't produced more than one shot from using those at this time, but I'm sure I'll use those more actively when the aurora season is over
Sorry for the late reply. I just came back from a trip to the Seychelles. It depends on the shot. Sometimes I use filters - mostly 3 stop softgrad and 6 stop nd. Sometimes itīs still dark enough and there is no need for filters. But beeing at the right time at the right place and catching an amazing light is a requirement for a successful shot. Most time this happens very early or late - thatīs correct .
I saw your shots from the Seychelles, and I have to admit I do love the way you edit your images. They are so alive and rich in the right colors. I'm hoping to get some good sunsets in the weeks ahead as nightskies are more or less out of the question within a couple of weeks or so, well at least auroras.
And I totally agree with you, present lighting makes the shot
