Ancient Lava

At the edge of the giant lava field Eldhraun i saw this beautiful waterfall. A short four wheel drive track and a little hike through ancient lava led to this wonderful place. Today everything is coverd with thick moss.

Eldhraun is one of the biggest lava fields in the world. It emerged from the Laki Eruption 1783/84. Today it is covered from very thick and soft moss.
In this eruption about 30% of Iceland's population died.
